Emily at the front desk has been especially kind, always making an effort to help people feel welcome. Jimmy also deserves credit for keeping up both the inside and outside of the property, and he handles maintenance requests quickly and professionally. Our stay has been a real pleasure. The room was clean and well stocked, and the housekeeping team clearly takes pride in its work. When an issue came up with our online reservation, GM Ty sorted it out quickly and showed our family to the room. From arrival onward, the staff have been warm and professional, and they’re available whenever we need something. Of all the Extended Stay America hotels I’ve stayed at, this one has been the nicest by far. If you’re in the Toledo - Holland area, the hospitality here is worth experiencing.

Things started off well, then went downhill quickly. You’re expected to bring your own bedding, and even getting coffee can be a struggle. Don’t count on a polite conversation at the front desk either. The third-shift manager was mean and disrespectful, and I’m amazed she still works there.

The one good part has been how nice and accommodating the staff and maintenance team are. The cleaning, though, has been extremely poor, and I’ve never stayed somewhere with this much dust, dirt, and hair. I have OCD, so it’s been awful for me. I know the hotel allows pets, but not every guest has one or wants the room to feel like it’s full of pet hair. The drawers were covered in it, and hair kept floating up as I walked around, even getting stuck in my chapstick several times. I started cleaning right away, so I wish I’d taken pictures of those drawers first. There was old hair left in the bathroom, and the kitchen and bathroom walls had stains that looked like they hadn’t been wiped in a long time. Looking above the stove was a nightmare, as if it hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned in years, and the microwave needed more attention too. The fridge was the only thing that looked properly clean, thank god. Rooms need more attention to detail so guests can have a comfortable, stress-free stay.

The early breakfast in the lobby runs from 6am to 9am, with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, muffins, oatmeal and Nutrigrain bars. There’s also a laundry room open around the clock downstairs, along with soda and snack machines. ESA Holland is within walking distance of Five Below, Kohls and Old Navy, and Texas Roadhouse is about two minutes away on foot. McDonald's, Chik- Fil- A and Bob Evans are nearby too. The area felt pretty safe to us. The rooms were nicely equipped and very clean, and the beds were so comfortable we slept like babies. Depending on availability, you can get kitchen sets with dishes, pots and pans, and a coffee pot. Guest Wi-Fi was a big help for our business travel and for our grandsons, who are autistic and spend a lot of time using their devices for classes and YouTube. Getting here took a long time: while traveling from Texas to Ohio, we found out a reservation mix-up meant we needed other arrangements. Ty caught the oversight, contacted us, and explained how he’d fix it. Someone had overbooked and our room was no longer available, but staff worked to find us one. After a very long train ride with two children, we arrived late at night. The night staff waited for us, helped with our luggage and checked us in. Of all the hotels our family has stayed at, this has been the best so far.

Best value around here. I’ve been coming once a week with my little kids through autumn and winter, and I’ll finish out the season here happily. Nine times out of ten, the rooms are perfect, and this place is way cleaner than the other hotel in Maumee. That one was so disgusting that I was blown away by how far ahead this one was. The staff are always friendly. I’ll be back next autumn.
