DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Charlottesville

We slept well because the hotel was so quiet, and the atrium pool area was heated. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and generously sized, with a TV that suited the room, plus coffee, a microwave, and a fridge. The bathroom lighting was soft. Check-in was smooth and friendly, with water and a cookie offered. There's plenty of free parking, no resort fee as far as I recall, and Walmart and Starbucks are nearby. It's right off Route 29 and about 15-20 minutes from the university. Great value, I'd return.

Just disgusting. I found mold in the bathroom and bed bugs under my bed, and saw roaches in the lobby and hallways. On top of the room problems, a staff member was extremely disrespectful and the manager was rude and condescending. My stay was awful, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. If I could give it 0/5, I would. TERRIBLE HOTEL.

The only decent part was the kind woman at check-in. The rest was disgusting: there was a dead roach in the bathroom and the toilet hadn't been cleaned. I won't stay here again. It claims to be 3 stars, but one feels more accurate. I have pictures, but don't want to make anyone sick. Before spending money on the lobby, they need to update those 1990s rooms and deal with pest control.

The room was dirty, and the door didn't always shut properly. Housekeeping once walked in without warning, then got angry with me for not having the door shut. I was on a business trip and used my personal card to pay for breakfast after being told I had to eat or leave the restaurant while checking emails. Later, the front desk refused the $15 meal credit because I'd paid with my own card. On top of that, there was no hot water, so my shower was ice cold. Dirty room, no hot water, rude staff.
