La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Ft. Lauderdale Airport

The staff and pool were great, and I loved seeing the wildlife. The rooms were good too, though the doors were a pain: the deadbolt kept sticking out when you closed the door from outside, making it almost impossible unless someone was inside. The drains were very slow as well. Even with those issues, it was a great, cheaper place to stay.

The breakfast had very good options, and the rooms, although a little dated, did the job for our night before heading to the Miami cruise terminal. The pool was there, but we didn’t try it. The hotel is fairly close to Fort Lauderdale airport. Getting from there to the Miami port could take about an hour, especially in peak traffic. Decent for a night.

The kind and helpful front desk staff were the one bright spot. I booked this La Quinta because nearby hotels were charging $750 or more, and the affordable price is honestly the only reason I can give it even one star. A budget rate shouldn’t mean giving up cleanliness or basic service. Sanitation was my biggest concern. The rooms seemed to be cleaned in a rush, and housekeeping needs better training or a new team. If management is setting strict time limits, the cleaning clearly suffers. There was also a substantial language barrier that made basic requests hard to communicate. The place needs a full renovation. Water pressure was very poor, the A/C barely worked, and the elevator was extremely slow. The hot tub jets were weak too. At breakfast they ran out of basics like tea and sugar, and if complimentary coffee and tea are offered all day, those supplies should be easy to find and kept stocked. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and improves the cleanliness and maintenance.

Robert and Nina made our few days in Fort Lauderdale easy and enjoyable. Their hospitality, quick responses and attention to detail meant everything went smoothly, and we really appreciated the effort. The location is quiet and convenient, with a view of the water and pool. The rooms were clean, though the hotel could use some updating. We had a nice, easy stay.
