Holiday Inn Long Island-Islip Arpt East by IHG

I’ve come back here several times for work, and the rooms have always been clean. The staff are friendly, efficient, and willing to help. The manager is doing a great job, and I hope corporate notices how well this team works together.

We felt right at home in our cozy, very clean room. The front desk concierge greeted us courteously and quickly got us a room on the third floor, as we’d requested. Sonoma Grill next door was a convenient bonus, with excellent food, generous portions, and great service. The hotel is pretty central on Long Island, so it’s easy to get around. I’d recommend it to anyone traveling in the area!

The Holiday Inn was clean, welcoming, and even had a microwave in the room, which I don’t think I’ve ever had at a hotel before. J.R. at the desk was especially patient and professional, even with about five visibly impatient people waiting behind us. Our check-in took a while because of the situation, though it wasn’t the staff’s fault. We’d originally booked through a wedding block at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. They had flood damage in 10 rooms that day, but didn’t call us, even though it was already 11pm. We found out when we arrived, and they sent us to the Holiday Inn. They covered the cost, but sorting out a room from one hotel to another was annoying. They offered one night at the Holiday Inn and one back at the Regency, and since we’d already driven there, we went with it. I’m glad we did, because our stay here was great. The Hyatt Regency was an unbelievable nightmare. Please be patient with the staff at check-in. Some guests are inconvenienced customers from the Hyatt, and that isn’t the staff’s fault.

The best part for me was the staff. They were exceptionally kind and helpful, and went out of their way with even little things when they could. The restaurant attached to the hotel was convenient, though the food was just okay. There’s laundry on site, and while there’s no breakfast option here, the restaurant does serve it. My room was clean and in decent shape for a three-star hotel, with a fridge and microwave in most rooms. The prices were reasonable, though third-party sites were usually a little cheaper. The surrounding area and the views from the windows weren’t much to look at, but that’s not really the hotel’s fault. Update: I’m changing my rating from 5/5 to 3/5. Second and third shift service was excellent, but I can’t say the same about first shift. I stayed seven days and had planned to add another, but now I’d rather go somewhere else. I was badgered and disrespected. Starting with “I’m not trying to be mean but” and then telling me I had to extend by 11am or they wouldn’t do it was not okay. After walking away, she told a colleague something similar, saying not to process it if I didn’t do it by 11am the next day. That interaction wiped out the customer service I’d experienced before. They called my room about five times in under an hour that morning about exchanging keys, even though I said I’d be there in about 30 minutes. They need to do better. Talking badly about customers when they can still hear you probably isn’t a good way to keep them.
