The problems kept adding up: our room had a strong mildew smell, Netflix would not load, the toilet barely flushed until I fixed it myself, and the bathroom switch only worked if you hit the wall beside it. We had waited more than 10 minutes at check-in before being told our original room was changed because its AC was broken. Then we found a bug crawling in the bed. I checked around and saw dead bugs and spider webs too. I showed a video to the front desk, but they offered only clean sheets. There was no room move, comforter, or real fix. My girlfriend and I stripped and remade the bed ourselves, then slept without a comforter. Rose at checkout was helpful and credited us one night, which I appreciated. I was also told the manager had a very limited availability window, frustrating after all those issues. None of the problems alone was huge, but together they pointed to poor upkeep, cleanliness, and oversight. It felt more like a motel than a Marriott, and now I’m hesitant about this property and Marriott hotels in general.

I spend most of my life on the road, and this is the kind of hotel I look forward to. The staff were really nice, the beds comfortable, and my room was clean and cared for. It had a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker, too. The location worked well: quiet since it’s a little out of the way, but still close to stores and restaurants.

Our visit to Butler was to see my sister, who was dying, and staying here made that last time with her more uncomfortable and upsetting than it should have been. The TV, room keys, heat, and phone all failed. Awful. I won’t stay here again.

There was hair from other guests left around the room, along with black mold growing in the shower. In the bathroom, paint was peeling, water damage was visible, and the towel rack was broken or missing. The place clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned or maintained. I was extremely disappointed and wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it.

If you’re in a bind and need somewhere to sleep near Butler, this could work, but it wouldn’t be my first pick. The rooms look only partly updated, with things ripped off the walls. The bathroom floor was dirty enough to feel underfoot, and the shower had soap scum. The complimentary soap bottles were broken, with sharp edges. At breakfast, the apple juice was sour and fermented, and the hot plates smelled off.
