Holiday Inn Express & Suites Butler by IHG

The room was a mess. There were big clumps of hair on the shower wall, and the bathroom fan was packed with dust and debris and didn’t work. The toilet paper holder was broken, and the desk had no lamp or overhead light. We also had no USB outlets, even though other rooms apparently have them. The lack of attention to detail was incredible.

The location is handy for Butler, especially the Butler Fairgrounds, and there’s a good-sized shopping area and plenty of places to eat nearby. My stay at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Butler was comfortable and inviting, with everything I expected from a Holiday Inn Express. The staff I met were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was the usual Holiday Inn Express fare, good and consistent with what I expected.

The rooms are decent, though kind of run down, which I expect from a work hotel. I’m staying 14 days, and room service hasn’t been great. They don’t replace towels left in the hallway, and when I’m on night shift they don’t come in to clean the room at all.

On this week’s stay, housekeeping has come every day, but those long black hairs have still been stuck to the shower wall the whole time. Breakfast is supposed to be open and ready at 6 a.m., yet that still hasn’t happened. It’s the same food every time and easily the worst breakfast I’ve had at a Holiday Inn. I’ve stayed at over a dozen while traveling for work and with the military. I’ll tell my office to stop booking here, since the $1000 in company spending can be used better elsewhere. I stay here often for 8-10 days at a time and had no problems for a while. Then last week I had to switch rooms because bed bugs had eaten me alive. This time it seems like housekeeping has been nonexistent: the room could be cleaner, and there’s long black hair all over the shower. Breakfast is never ready on time either. The signs say 6, but you’re lucky if it’s available before 7.
