Garden Inn Homestead

The breakfast was good, with eggs, sausage, waffles, bagels, toast, cereal, muffins, apples, yogurt, and coffee. The pool was clean and inviting, and the room was a nice size, very clean, and had working AC. It came with a microwave, coffee maker, mini-fridge, and ironing board and iron. The mattress felt too soft for me, though I still slept well. We were less than a mile from Royal Palace Ballroom, where we were headed, and about a mile and a half from the turnpike. I'm used to hotels with enclosed lobbies, but I liked this one.

The beds were comfortable, and the pool looked clean and nice. Our room had bar soap and shampoo. You enter the rooms from outside, and the lobby stays open around the clock. We missed breakfast, though we were told it was free.

We paid $344 for three nights over a weekend. I saw people paying $150 a night, so Expedia seems to get a good deal. There are lots of restaurants nearby in a decent part of Homestead, and breakfast includes hard-boiled eggs. It's an older property, but it's kept up well. The staff were fantastic and did housekeeping every day. There was a coffee maker in the room, the pool was clean, and the property was free of litter. The rooms were really clean, the AC got very cold, and the front desk staff were helpful and friendly. There's no elevator, but the complex is only two stories, even though it's quite large. It might have been an old Holiday Inn a long time ago. For a cheaper place without frills where you can still count on a good night's sleep, this is a great value. Five stars all the way!
