We had a fantastic stay as a family of 3, using an RCI timeshare exchange for the room. The one-bedroom city-view unit was clean and spacious, with a stocked kitchen, full size fridge, and washer and dryer. The bathroom supplies ran out before housekeeping came, one sliding door was hard to open, and the balcony was too windy to spend much time on. Being part of Hilton Hawaiian Village is a big plus, and it’s in a great part of Waikiki. This building sits toward the edge, though, so it’s farther from things than most of the others, possibly excepting the Grand Islander. There’s no coffee shop or ABC in the building, so you have to walk elsewhere in HHV or to Ala Moana Blvd. That’s manageable unless you have mobility issues. Elevators can involve a wait around check-in and check-out, but not as bad as the Rainbow Tower near the Lagoon. The on-site restaurants are good, though prices have jumped around 25% since our 2024 visit. To save some $, use the full kitchen, or try Hale Koa's Happy's Grill or the Steak Shack near the Outrigger for more budget friendly food.

The bellhop staff were wonderful, so kind and helpful throughout our stay. I wish the rest of the staff had treated us the same way. The property itself is nice, with spacious rooms and beach access, plus pools, restaurants, and amenities in the village. Check-in was a mess. I waited in the lobby 3 times, about an hour total. We had done pre-check in and paid $70+ to park, then showed ID and thought we’d get a text with our room number when it was ready. Instead, after the text arrived, we had to queue another half hour to show ID again. An older gentleman cut in line, and Hilton staff didn’t react. Once we finally got a room number, none of our room cards worked. We went back to the lobby twice more for working cards and to sort out parking because of the cards. Even the manager we spoke to about the room cards didn’t show concern or apologize for wasting over an hour. We were just hurried along.
We’ve come here many times and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Hawaii without hesitation. The beach is lovely, especially for Friday night fireworks, and there are lots of pools. The rooms are clean and spacious. It’s surprisingly quiet for downtown Honolulu, and only about a 20 minute drive from the airport. Thanks, Hilton, for an amazing resort.
The resort is busy and draws lots of children. Families often claim pool loungers with their belongings, even when nobody is using them. My room was excellent, but cleaning staff were stingy with coffee and creamer. Some staff were friendly; others, especially outdoors, spent their time on their phones. The waterside is open only a couple hours a day. I tried the free ukulele class, but the teacher never showed up.
The sofa bed had an 8 inch dip across the middle. When I called the front desk, maintenance came and then asked housekeeping to deal with it. They stuffed a blanket into the gap and said, "there it's good now." It felt just as bad. After that, they told us to pack up and move rooms, to the same category with the same crappy view. If we had to spend most of our day packing and waiting for a bed to be fixed, they could at least have offered a better view. Management didn’t even apologize.
