Hawaiian Sun Holidays

Our shower head was black, the tub was cracked and rusty, and the outside door barely shut. I was glad my husband was there to help close it. We arrived on a Sunday and were told to check in Monday, but nobody showed up. It seemed like only one person worked there, and they were closed Tuesday, so there was no way to move. At checkout, when we raised the problems, they said the place was dated. The photos are old and don’t show the room you actually get, and they seem to know that.

The location is great and the price was affordable. Free parking is a bonus, though the room could use some refurbishing. The elevator was my main frustration. During busy times it took forever, and even if you’re on a lower floor, be ready for a wait of up to 30 minutes while it goes to the top floor first.

The place needs a major renovation for its location. The photos are misleading for the most part, and the room smelled and was very outdated. There was no pool, and the outside pictures shown weren’t accurate. There were ROACHES in the room!!!! I asked for a refund for the unused nights, but they wouldn’t give one. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

It’s a nice place, but the toilet seat in Tower 1, room 1401, was a pincher. You sit down, it slips and catches your leg. Ouch. This had happened to me before, and it sucks. We were three people and all needed to use the bathroom. The seat was well worn and broken by the second day. It should’ve been fixed or replaced right away, especially on a paid vacation. It probably only costs a few bucks for a new one. I called Melissa Murray, the property manager for Hawaiian Sun Holidays properties. She contacted maintenance, but nobody came the first day. On day two, I emailed again with a picture of the broken seat, but Melissa was off. On day three, Wednesday, we left around 8am, went to the swap meet and Pearl, then drove up to North Shore because the weather was windy but traffic was light. Waimea Bay was great as usual. We had shave ice and shrimp in Kahuku, boogie boarded at Castle beach, then drove through Kaneohe and over Pali back to Waikiki. When we got back, the seat had been replaced, even though we hadn’t been at the room between 10 and 11am. Three days to fix a $20 part and a few minutes of work, PAU. No excuses, just get it done.
