Ilikai Hotel & Luxury Suites

The lanai is great for taking in the stunning views, and there are fireworks 🎆 every Friday just past the swimming pool and near the lagoon. The building has a lot of history, plus a pool and several dining options. There's an ABC store just down the road and a McDonalds nearby. The rooms were clean, though they could use some updates. Really well done.

We booked directly with the hotel, not a vacation management company. At the edge of waikiki, it's an easy walk to the Hilton Lagoon and the beach. The mood is relaxed and the staff are courteous. Charmaine at check-in is a gem. Our ocean view jr. suite was roomy and quite clean, and housekeeping did an excellent job. We ate at the restaurant and coffee shop several times. There are also a small general store, gift shops, and other amenities. Booking through the hotel came with perks at the time: water bottles, ice cream, a free DVD rental card, and beach towels to borrow during our stay. Ask the staff for details. We were just playing tourist, and the place was great. I loved being able to see the Friday fireworks and walk pretty much everywhere. The elevators are small and hot, with no air conditioning, and people don't seem to have much social space awareness. Sadly, someone on our floor was smoking heavily inside their unit. I got really sick right away. We called the lobby to report it, and they put paper signs on each door, but that didn't help. Still, it's a good place to stay overall.

We added a few extra vacation nights and chose Ilikai for them. The resort is beautiful, and we wished we could've stayed longer. The second-floor pool was perfect for kids. Our toddler didn't want to get out, and because it was so shallow, it was easier to relax even though he isn't a strong swimmer. The staff were helpful and super friendly. The sticker shop downstairs is... interesting, but everything else was lovely. Kids get free scoops of ice cream for each day of your stay. It's a little farther from Waikīkī's hustle and bustle, which made for a really relaxing visit. We still walked to yummy restaurants and the beach. Hope to book here again next year!
