Our flight got changed, so we arrived a day early after a week at Hilton Hawaiian village Ali tower. We stayed in the cozy studio for one night, with Angela as our host, and enjoyed the amenities so much that we liked this Airbnb room better than our room at the Ali at the Hilton HawaiianVillage. Check-in and checkout were easy enough. There are several restaurants within walking distance. Free parking is available, though we didn’t use it. It’s about 20 to 30 minutes from the airport, and our Uber driver was awesome.

The staff are friendly and helpful, and the lobby is clean and nice. There’s a mini mart, free continental breakfast, free Wi-Fi and cable, and the room had A/C. These are individually owned condos, though, not what I’d call a hotel or motel. The room and bathroom are very small, with no hotplate, a tiny sink and food prep area, and a regular-sized fridge. It wouldn’t be my first choice for a Waikiki vacation, but it would do when options are limited.

The building is secure, with a key fob needed to use the elevator. There are lots of places nearby to eat or shop, and the beach is close. I booked through AirBnB and loved the place. The view and balcony were beautiful, a nice spot to relax, tan, or eat, and the unit seemed perfect for one person or a couple. It was well equipped, and the bathroom was beautiful. The smart TV let me stream Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon prime from my phone, though I’m not sure the regular channels work because it kept saying there was no signal. Pay attention to the hours for using the trash chute. Check-in could’ve gone better. I arrived around 7pm and couldn’t find anyone at the desk or the ‘security desk’, and I didn’t see the lockbox either. After about 10 minutes, I found the security guy. He took my ID and vaccine card and showed me where the lockboxes were. No problems after that.

Guest access is easy, and the building feels very secure. The views are great. I’ll be back!

The location is unbeatable, but Village Tower itself needs urgent attention. The building is outdated from the parking lot through the hallways, and the elevators felt unsafe. It’s a great spot, but the building quality doesn’t live up to the location. The owner’s comment was interesting, as if guests and tenants use a different entrance or elevator. Maybe they’re turning a blind eye. At least half the mailboxes have code padlocks for key collection. Everyone enters the same building and deals with the same issues, no matter who they rented from.🙄
