The Marina-side condos were much more peaceful than I expected, with very little road noise or sirens compared with other places in Waikiki. The oceanfront units are spacious, proper one-bedrooms, and among the largest available for a reasonable price. Lower-floor units have full balconies, great for sunsets and relaxing while watching the Marina go by. Higher floors have tiny balconies that barely fit a chair. The second-floor walkway to the Hilton lagoon is great too, since you can get to the beach without going onto the road.
Parking takes a bit to figure out at first, though it gets easier with practice. The building dates to 1965, and the elevator works well. They could use more bins for plastic recycling.
The Charter House restaurant downstairs has live music at night, and it was a little loud. By 10 pm, though, it started to quiet down because of the building's noise rules. Parking was simple thanks to the paid garage attached to the building, which is handy in a city where finding a spot can be tough. A great place to stay.
We were in room 1408 at ILikai marina condos from 5/13-5/19/2025, and the harbor and marina view was magical. I really value privacy, and our balcony wasn't close to or visible from the neighboring room. The balcony itself was lovely, looking right over the water. The kitchen had what we needed, and there was enough space for my mom and me. A leaking AC left the floor wet, but someone came the next morning, fixed it, and left a fan to dry the carpet. The location worked perfectly for us, just a few steps from Waikiki lagoon and beach, with tons of restaurants nearby. Our island tour pickup was close to the hotel too. Five stars from me. @ilikaimarinacondos.
The location made it easy to get to food, activities, the beach, and malls, especially Ala Moana. Staff were amazing, rooms clean, and the kitchen well equipped. Lobby shops were reasonably priced for Hawaii, and the ABC store across the street was great for groceries and essentials. We also appreciated the smoking rule: we got a notice about someone else on our floor, with a $250 per person per incident fine, which helps keep the place fresh. I'd come back, though there were some frustrations. The dim lighting made it hard to watch TV or take photos and videos at night. Our friends' room had the same issue. The bed frame stuck out sharply beneath the mattress, and we kept catching our shins on it in both rooms. Our room also had a broken outlet and hair dryer; maintenance came the next day, with no same day fix. The elevators were a real headache around midday. With 25 floors and frequent stops, waits could reach 15 minutes or more, and some elevators were out of order. There are stairs marked as fire escape that you can use, but don't leave the doors open. On the sides, there was also a bathers elevator or the one in the trash room. One warning: the baggage check guy had a huge attitude. He tossed our ukulele around and let our bags fall off the cart.
