The sound made it nearly impossible to sleep. The windows might as well have been paper: cars and trucks, loud music, constant horns, people talking, screaming and yelling, banging, wind, and garbage trucks rattling around in the very early morning all came through. It was horrible. And the room was filthy. The bathroom constantly smelled like pee. Around the toilet, there was caked-on pee or something similar at the side and bottom of the bowl, and it smelled awful. They seemed to clean only the bowl itself, not the surrounding area. The shower was moldy and didn’t drain properly, so water stood around my ankles by the end. The walls, curtains, chairs, and patio windows were disgustingly dirty. The windows looked like they hadn’t been washed for months. The front door was covered in dirt, fingerprints, and what looked like food, which was our first clue about the room’s cleanliness. I’m shocked this place has such good reviews. Maybe other guests aren’t bothered by dirt. This was a very disappointing stay. The place is a mess and has a lot of work to do.

We loved our stay at the Pacific Monarch and would absolutely return. Our room had a separate bedroom with balcony access, a living room and kitchenette, and a large sitting balcony with a partial ocean view. Staff at the desk were friendly and helpful, and beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas were available for free. The location worked perfectly for us: it’s on Kuhio Street, two blocks from the beach and two blocks from the International Marketplace, right in Waikiki. There’s also a public bus stop directly across the street. The only drawback was loud construction next door during the day. It’s temporary, though, and not something the Pacific Monarch can control.

There’s a grill on the roof, and each room has a small kitchen with a stove, fridge, and microwave. Beach towels and chairs are provided, too. The hotel is close to the beach and right near plenty of food and coffee options within the same block. The location is perfect, close to everything.

The staff were consistently nice and did what they could to keep everyone happy. The pillows were only okay, and the decor isn’t especially modern, but we loved the homely feel of these apartments. The value is so good that after two trips to high-end hotels, I’ll stay here from now on. Just awesome. Mahalo, and see you in winter 2027! The rooftop pool is small, but there are grills up there, too. On the top floor, there’s a hangout with big windows and sweeping mountain views by day and night. We also loved the large balconies off the bedrooms, with two doors. The one-bedroom units are corner apartments, so you get city and ocean views. Ours was on the 17th floor, and the higher floors seem to have better views. The one-bedroom ocean-view rooms are the best part of staying here. The full kitchens are another big plus. They have full-size fridges and freezers, plus everything needed to cook, eat, and drink. We could cook and microwave food, and stock up. At Hilton Waikiki Beach Hotel, the tiny “coolers” meant our food went bad. There’s just one AC unit at ground level, as other reviews mention, but our room stayed cool and we only ran the bedroom fan on low. The beach is only a block away, and chairs and towels are available to use.

I have no complaints about my stay. They’re in the middle of making improvements. After checkout, they stored our bags and let us use the pool shower and a pool towel while we waited for our late evening flight. I really appreciated that.
