Waikiki Central Hotel

We’ve come back to this hotel quite a few times because we like it. It’s simple but has what you need for a good time, with lots of amenities and the beach within walking distance.

The staff are friendly, and they’ll lend you beach chairs and wake boards for free. You’re only about a block from the beach, and it’s a great location for the price if you’re mostly there to enjoy the water. It’s no five-star hotel, and parking is pretty difficult. I posted a photo since I couldn’t find one on Google.

Hot water at night took a while to come through, which was the only real downside. Otherwise, it’s an affordable and convenient place in Waikiki, with clean, comfortable rooms just a short walk from the beach and shops. The staff were friendly, and check-in went smoothly.

This worked really well as a place to sleep while staying in the heart of Waikīkī, especially for the price. The rooms looked clean and new, there’s a kitchenette in the room, and nearby food trucks were great. You don’t need a car to get around, and free boogie boards, snorkels, and extra sunscreen are available. I wouldn’t expect the fancy resort experience, but if you won’t spend much time using hotel amenities, it’s a solid spot. A few things to know: construction can be loud during the day, though it’s okay at night, and the thin walls may bother light sleepers. The front desk is open 8am-8pm. The AC gets extremely cold, with very few blankets, and there’s no cleaning or towel replacement. Parking is tough, with only about 4-6 very tight spots. Be ready to spend time working out the right angle, Austin Powers style.
