Inn at the Gorge

We were charged far more than we expected afterward. Who charges $100 per dog? We travel often and have never been charged anything like that. We’d stayed in the terrace room, which seemed to have its own patio, so we left the curtains open for daylight. Around 9 AM, while my partner was out getting coffee, the owner came onto the private patio and knocked repeatedly on the door, upsetting our two dogs. I wasn’t dressed, so I was stuck in the bathroom until he left. He later texted that he wanted to give the dogs treats. I have a feeling he wanted to catch my partner and me having sex. It felt completely inappropriate. Stay here at your own risk.

We didn’t see a single staff member while we were there, and there was junk left in the middle of the hallway on our floor. The warm breakfast advertised on the website turned out to be store-bought muffins and bananas left in the lobby. Our room was dirty, and the bathtub was tiny. The plastic shower curtain hung so far into the tub that getting in and out felt dangerous, and it seemed unsanitary too. We stayed at the Inn on our wedding night last weekend and were quite unimpressed with both the room and the service. The website didn’t accurately describe the experience.

The Murphy bed was more comfortable than I expected, and folding it away left plenty of room. The Gorge Room felt bright and airy in the daytime, with blackout curtains for sleeping in. The bathroom is down the hall, but it’s private and never felt inconvenient. It was just the laid-back, stylish place we wanted, and affordable for what it offers. I’d book it again.

We felt deceived and wouldn’t have booked at the price we paid if we’d known what to expect. The location was nice, but our view was of the parking lot, and the bathroom and shower doors didn’t work properly. The hot tub had been a reason for our anniversary weekend, and the advertised hot breakfast was another big selling point. Half an hour before check-in, they texted to say the tub wasn’t available and there would be no real breakfast, just bread and fruit. The fruit was a bowl of small bruised apples. The communication came much too late. Very disappointing, and not worth it.
