We found Stay-Over in Hopewell VA while looking online for an overnight stop near Interstate 95, about halfway to our destination. The room was pristine, spacious, and had plenty of storage, though another night table would have been useful. There was a full fridge, four-burner range, microwave, toaster, cookware, and dishes for two. We only used the fridge, since breakfast was available until 11:00 on Saturday: scrambled eggs, sausage patties, waffles, bagels, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, and yogurt. No omelet station like at a pricier hotel, but our room was just as comfortable. The young woman tending the breakfast room had a lovely smile, and even tracked me down when I left my purse on a chair. We got a warm welcome at the front desk and decided we’d return on our way home.

Stay over suites had what I needed for a few days visiting family on the nearby military base. I wanted a place that felt safe, clean, and comfortable, with some appliances. They even had a full set of dishes, pots, pans, cutlery, and a little pitcher that was just right for pancake batter. The staff were friendly and professional, and the place was affordable. I had a great stay.

The staff were friendly, but the mattress was uncomfortable. I could feel the wires or springs, so I went to Wal-Mart and bought an air mattress. That’s why I gave it four stars.

Our rental car had a problem, so we needed a room here. The deal was good, and getting in and out was easy. The room was spacious, very clean, and had lots of useful amenities, though it looked a little dated. Breakfast was great and hot, the staff were friendly and personable, and there’s coin-operated laundry on site. Thanks for a great stay!

Breakfast is the weak spot. At this price, I’d expect real eggs and sausage instead of bagged eggs and watery sausage. The coffee was always fresh and very good, though, and the waffle station was nice. The rooms feel more like small apartments than hotel rooms, which I liked, and the staff were attentive and ready to help. It’s tucked right off the highway, so getting elsewhere is quick. Breakfast hours are longer, and rooms are cleaned once a week.
