La Quinta by Wyndham Hopkinsville

Jessica, I think that was her name, was a real help at check-in. She was friendly and helped me with a few boredom-buster ideas for the kids when I found out the pool was being used for storage. That was a letdown, especially since the website says there’s a pool and we look for one when traveling with kids. I’d stayed here a couple of years ago when it was already under maintenance, and the place always seems to be remodeling something without quite finishing. The room was clean and nice, and breakfast had the things the kids like. It wasn’t fancy, but it was better than a dull continental spread. I also liked the small gym. It was quiet, working, and unused while I was there. I’ve usually had good stays at La Quinta or Comfort Inn, and I’d return here too, as long as the pool is finally fixed.

The bathroom was so filthy that we couldn’t bathe our 1.5-year-old twins. There was coffee in the room but no cups, and the ice maker wasn’t working. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the staff were excellent, knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The pool looked like it might be permanently closed. LaQuinta is usually my go-to, but after this stay I’ll think twice.

The pool and washroom area were shut down, and that wasn’t mentioned when booking. It made things difficult when I was working five hours from home and needed to wash my work clothes. The bigger problem was the money. They withdrew over $600 from my boyfriend’s account three times, twice while he was still staying there and again this morning, after he had checked out Monday and gone to another hotel. They blamed a $3 charge to the room. The front desk wouldn’t answer, so we had to try several customer service numbers. Customer service said he may get a call within a week to dispute it. Very unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. 0/10.

The desk attendants were all extremely friendly, but when I went to check out, there was n9 one to be found anywhere. They’re remodeling, so maybe the dirty halls and carpet hole patched with tape are part of that. Still, my tub wouldn’t drain and the fridge barely worked.
