Surestay Plus By Best Western Hopkinsville

I usually don’t write reviews, but this needed to be said. Our group had a rate, yet everyone in our party was overcharged at checkout. They added a $20 per night miscellaneous fee. When we asked about it, we were first told it was for our service dog. We showed the paperwork, then they said it was for an extra person. The elevator felt unsafe, had no inspection sticker, and its buttons were held together with duct tape. The air conditioner was extremely loud, switching on and off all night and waking us up. Breakfast was slow too, with only four biscuits served at a time. We asked for the room to be cleaned, but it wasn’t done until the last day. I would never stay here again. Buyer beware.

The breakfast had all the waffle fixings, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, plus French Vanilla for my coffee, and it was really good. The rooms were very nice too. Our group of seven arrived on our Can-Am Spyders and everyone was friendly, helpful, and accommodating from then until we left. The owner has an amazing, welcoming personality. Thanks to all of you! The toilet was left with feces on it from the previous guest when I arrived. I told a staff member, who I later learned was the owner, and he said he’d leave a note for housekeeping in the morning instead of dealing with it then. After housekeeping came the next day, the bed had been made but the toilet was still dirty. I took pictures both days. When I went to speak with the owner again, he got hostile and said I was lucky to get daily room cleaning because most hotels don’t do that. I said they usually clean between guests. He told me I could leave and yelled after me down the hall. There was also foul-smelling trash in the hallway bin for two days before I reported it. This place is disgusting, and I strongly advise against staying here. The lower price than nearby hotels is there for a reason.

I’ve stayed here three times, but I’m not sure I’ll come back after my last visit. The hotel is clean, recently remodeled, and pet friendly. Breakfast is supposed to run from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. When I went down at 6:32, the room was dark and nothing was ready. A few other guests waited too, while the front desk clerk helped someone and could see us. At 6:35 she turned on the lights and began setting things out slowly. Ten minutes later it still wasn’t quite ready, so I left to get on the road. Travel time matters. Maybe they were short staffed or lost track of the time, but breakfast is an important amenity and shouldn’t be overlooked.
