Quality Inn & Suites Horse Cave - Cave City

The room smelled bad, the floor was filthy, and the TV remote was sticky. There was mold around the shower and on the curtains, and the tub had 4" of standing water. It was the most disgusting room I’ve ever been in, so we wouldn’t stay. We’d booked online and couldn’t get a refund. The pictures online don’t match the rooms. I wouldn’t recommend staying there.

For just $50, you get free breakfast and parking, and the hotel looks almost new. The photos say it all. The Turkish man at reception was very good and helpful. I highly recommend the place and will come back.

The hotel could use some updating, and the room was a bit worn. We had a king bed and a jacuzzi tub; the bed was comfy and the jacuzzi was nice. The hot and cold handles were falling off, but everything still worked fine. It wasn’t busy, and being close to the caves made it a decent place to stop for a night. Pretty okay for laying your head down.

The clerk moved me to a first-floor room because there was no way I could carry my bags up to the second floor, where the whole corner of the walkway was covered in ice. Then I found I had to move the microwave to use it, since it wasn’t plugged in where it sat and there was no outlet to plug it into. This was probably my worst experience with a Choice hotel brand. The parking lot and walkways hadn’t been dealt with since an ice storm more than a week earlier. The lot was all ice that had thawed and refrozen, with deep ruts that made it nearly impossible to drive through. The sidewalks were icy until right by the building, and footprints in partly thawed patches had frozen again. I slipped several times walking to my room and twisted my ankle; it’s swollen and sore. A couple got their sedan stuck in the lot while I was there. The hotel had no salt, sand, kitty litter, or shovel, so they had to call a tow truck. The place may be fine in warm weather, but with winter weather that’s even remotely bad, I wouldn’t recommend going unless you’re in a truck. I strongly recommend against going anytime soon.
