The staff were really friendly and helped with our questions and requests. We liked the pool, and the beds were super comfortable. The AC worked great, and it was easy to walk to the grand promenade and hiking trails, as well as downtown and its attractions. The hotel also offers discounted tickets to Garvan Woodland Gardens, which was a nice extra. Room service doesn’t come unless you ask for it, which you can do with the QR code in the room. Our room had a lot of wear: paint was flaking off the walls, there was mold in the bathroom, and we saw plenty of cracks and stains we couldn’t explain. The hallways felt dark and spooky. The window of the room next to ours was stuffed with trash bags, which was unsettling, though I assume they were being used for storage. The hotel looked run down, but they were renovating the other side of our floor, so hopefully ours gets attention soon. The stay was satisfactory, and the location made up for a lot of the room’s shortcomings. If the condition of the room would bother you, I’d consider another hotel nearby until the Arlington finishes its renovations.

The outside is beautiful, but the rooms look like something you’d find in a motel6 unless you rent a suite. For what they charge, things need to be much cleaner. I understand the hotel’s history, but the fact that a few dead gangsters slept there isn’t a reason to leave it without modernizing it. They should shut the whole place down and rehab everything. We gave it another chance for my daughter’s 8th birthday, and it was more of the same. The carpets were dirty, and we kept seeing dog poop in the elevators and lobby. We told the staff, and to their credit they cleaned it up, but eww. We ended up finding other places to eat outside the hotel. Our first stay was horrible too. A pipe burst in the room and water got all over the dirty carpet. They moved us to another room, but its carpet was dirty as well. They also took an extra $200 from my card, saying someone had smoked in the room. I don’t smoke in hotel rooms, especially with my kids, who were 10 and 7, and I don’t even smoke in my own house. I asked the staff for proof, but they never provided any. There was mold in the bathroom, and breakfast was too expensive, though we paid for it anyway.

The atmosphere felt so historical, and the pamper package was an outstanding deal. The staff were super friendly and professional. I didn’t get my paraffin hand wax or hand mitten to bathe with, but they made up for it with such loving hospitality. Thanks, everyone. I plan to come back every month! And Shane in valet gave us the perfect welcome, then went above and beyond with the goodbye.

The thermal bath was the highlight, an absolute slice of heaven. Staying at the hotel meant we could go back to our room and nap afterward, which was a real perk. The in-lobby bar and restaurant were especially enjoyable while it rained off and on during our visit, and all the staff were absolutely wonderful. It’s an older historic building right in the downtown area. Renovation work has begun and is expected to continue until mid 2027. For its age, the interior is well maintained and very clean, with no old building smell, though there’s obvious wear and tear throughout. It was a wonderful, relaxing experience, and I’ll absolutely return.

The rooms are very old, so I’d give them a 2 for that, since a lot of people would freak out. I loved them, though. The spa was amazing, but I wouldn’t recommend the nail salon. The staff were totally amazing, not one rude person. We’re going back as soon as we can. It’s close to everything.
