The bed and furniture were nice, we liked the decor, and the location made it easy to reach town and great food nearby. The owner also responded quickly by text when we had requests. Still, I think the place could be much better with more work, though I understand small business ownership can be hard. The $60 spa package included the large soaking tub, but it never got hot. We messaged the owners and were told it needed time to warm up, yet after at least 30 minutes of running it, the water was still cold. The sauna and sand rooms were nice, but I’d skip the package next time. I didn’t ask for a refund because I was trying to relax and didn’t expect they’d agree to one. The water was extremely hard and irritated my skin afterward, so a softener would make sense if they offer spa services. The coffee maker also didn’t work on the second day, and the TV selection wasn’t good. There seemed to be more porn than regular movies, so I’d suggest ROKU tv instead of cable. For an anniversary trip booked at the last minute, it was affordable, and these comments are meant as feedback. With some upgrades, I could see giving it four stars or more. Calling it a “Resort” feels misleading.

We booked the soaking tub and it was ready when we got there. I only wish we’d known 48 hours ahead that we’d be staying, because we really could have used a massage. There’s no restaurant at the hotel, but several places are an easy walk away, including Smokehouse for great BBQ and smoked Mexican food. We didn’t meet Joe & Julie, though they answered every text. The room was spacious, clean, and well appointed, with a comfortable bed. The second floor hallway was warm, but our room’s window a/c kept it cool. This place seems more like an airB&B style stay now, and some complaints may come from people expecting full service. We’d read reviews that made us a little worried, but had a great visit and would stay again.

There was no hot water for a shower, and a dog next door barked all night long. We won’t recommend this place to anyone and didn’t think the stay was worth it. We had no idea when we booked that it was a bed and breakfast, since the ad didn’t say so. It also advertised a restaurant and bar, but neither was open. The listing said kid friendly but didn’t mention that pets were allowed.

We left after only an hour and had to book another hotel. My husband began coughing and felt he couldn’t take a deep breath soon after we entered room 209 at Red Rock River Resort. I then had trouble breathing too, and my chest felt tight. The second floor, where the rooms and sauna rooms are, felt extremely warm, and the air seemed heavy. We thought the heat might have caused the symptoms. The owners wouldn’t refund our money. We travel a lot for work and kids sports and have never had to switch hotels before. I’d strongly recommend staying away.

The spa rooms were fantastic, a fun surprise, and everything was bright and very clean, including our room, bathroom, and the common areas. We only stopped for the night and didn’t have time to explore much. We arrived late but had no trouble getting in with Joe and Julie’s instructions. This historic building has its own charm and quirks, so it’s not a cookie-cutter hotel. You can tell the improvements have been done with care, and they’re very well done. Bravo to whoever has been working on the place. Really nice boutique hotel.
