Hotchkiss Inn Motel

The blue towels were a nice touch, and the beds were comfortable enough, though I’ve had better and worse. Breakfast was about what you’d expect, but some of the best breakfast burritos we’ve had were just down the road at the Farm Stand store next to City Market. It’s a solid inn on the edge of town. Much of the room had been redone, though some furniture seemed original. A heavily stained bench stood out and took away from the rest. There weren’t many guests while we were there, so we can’t say for sure, but based on what little we experienced, noise from rooms, doors, and footsteps in the corridor might carry.

The staff were pleasant and kind, and the rooms were extremely clean and well kept, with an updated, remodeled feel. Toiletries and other supplies were fully stocked. Highly recommend.

Frank checked in with me over breakfast each morning to see how my stay was going. He was friendly, helpful, and full of useful information. I spent two nights at the Inn while visiting the north rim of Black Canyon at Gunnison National Park. The Inn was fully booked both nights with workers from the local mine. My recently renovated room was clean, well maintained, and well appointed for an Inn. Breakfast was served in the lobby and was good.

The outdoor area is small and nice, with a grill guests can use, and breakfast was good. We got what we saw online. The room was decent, though the bed felt a little hard, and it was a cozy spot in town. We stayed while visiting Black Canyon, about 45 minutes away in the North Rim area. City market (King Soopers) was down the street beside a K-8 school.
