Comfort Inn & Suites Houston I-45 North - IAH

The room had a strong cologne smell, peeling paint, holes in the bedding, dirty towels, and a smoke detector ripped out of the wall with wires hanging out. The key card sleeve had another room number scratched off with 303 written over it. The man at the desk didn't greet us when I arrived with my two children. After we went trick-or-treating nearby, people were outside the hotel passing things hand to hand, and it looked like drugs. Inside, a man in dark glasses was sitting on the lobby couch and no one was at the desk. The next morning I heard housekeeping and asked who would pick up the garbage from room 303. The woman said she didn't know, so I left the garbage outside my room rather than let anyone in while we were at breakfast. The water pitcher was empty, and when I asked the attendant cleaning up if it would be refilled, she harshly said no. A woman at the desk then got up, gave me two bottles of water, and refilled the pitcher. As we were leaving for an outing, I noticed the rental car key was missing. I searched everywhere in that disgraceful room. I went down and told them a housekeeper must have come in and taken it, and asked them to check the garbage too. The housekeeping supervisor said the person assigned to my room was a new hire, had been sent home early, and was made to empty her trash in the dumpster. I called Enterprise to explain; they sent a tow truck to get the rental before someone tried to steal it, and arranged an Uber to another rental car. I stayed away from the hotel until I was tired enough to come back and sleep before going home early the next morning. There were people smoking marijuana and hanging around in the parking lot, and the same man was in the lobby wearing the same clothes as the night before. At that point it seemed like drugs were being sold in the hotel. I called the toll-free complaint number because someone needs to reimburse me for the missing rental key. If needed, I'll involve law enforcement and the Better Business Bureau. I'm still waiting for the general manager to call.
