During my four-day stay at Days Inn – West Energy Corridor, the property felt chaotic and unsafe. I saw homeless people sleeping in hallways and stairwells, blocking passage, and witnessed racist behavior by an employee and what seemed like discrimination around renting and availability. Staff also behaved toward me in a way I found inappropriate and exploitative, which made me feel unsafe. Management under a manager named Edward seemed deceptive and coercive: rates rose far above the posted prices without explanation, and guests were removed and left unable to retrieve belongings. The basic conditions were bad too. There were roaches, no hot water, and rooms and common areas were unclean. I’m concerned the property may be operating outside acceptable safety and legal standards. I’m asking the relevant departments to investigate sanitation, pricing practices, guest safety, and possible civil rights issues. In its current condition, I don’t think it should be open to the public as a lodging facility.

There are plenty of places to get food nearby, which was convenient, but the hotel needs a lot of work. The room itself was clean. In the bathroom, the shower kept switching between hot and cold, the showerhead was terrible, and the door wouldn’t lock. The microwave needs replacing too. Breakfast was just mini muffins, a couple of juices, and two cereal choices. The second floor smelled like marijuana, and I had my baby with me. Upstairs on the third floor, kids ran around from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m., waking my baby. I went up and politely asked them to stop, and they did, thankfully.

I’ve been in town during a transition and tried four other hotels with my two daughters. This has been the best place for us so far. The rooms are clean and nicely laid out, and I like having breakfast in the morning. SK at the front desk has been a pleasure every time I’ve checked in. I’ve already come back at least three times and would like to stay again.

I stayed four days at Days Inn – West Energy Corridor, and the experience raised serious concerns for me. I saw racist behavior from an employee and what appeared to be discriminatory treatment around room availability and rentals. Staff also acted in a way I perceived as inappropriate and exploitative, with suggestions that rates or fees could be affected by sexualized, unprofessional interactions. That made me feel unsafe. The property itself had roaches, no hot water, unsanitary rooms and common areas, poor breakfast, and homeless people sleeping in hallways and stairwells. Management seemed predatory and deceptive. The posted rate was about $45 plus tax, but I was charged $120 per day without what I considered a legitimate reason. The on-site manager, Edward, was hostile and unprofessional. In my experience, he raised rates arbitrarily, sought extra money, and created situations where guests were removed and barred from returning. Their belongings were withheld or went missing, which seemed intentional and financially exploitative. The place felt unsafe and unethical, and possibly unlawful. I’m asking for an internal investigation, an audit of the charges and rate practices, written clarification of policies on staff conduct and guest property, and appropriate discipline if warranted. What happened to me should not happen to guests. This location feels like a danger to the public if it keeps operating this way.

The desk staff were pleasant, and the location is handy for groceries and places to eat. My room was spotless, which was a relief after seeing the old, dirty carpet when I stepped out of the elevator on the third floor. That carpet made me nervous about what the room would be like. The room had the basics, including a microwave, TV, fridge, and bed. My complaint was the shower: the water pressure was weak and the temperature too cold for someone who prefers a hot shower. I stayed at 7111 Rancho Mission in Houston, TX.
