I missed my booking because of a car wreck, then tried to book again for a week. I asked not to be charged because I was sick, but they denied it without hesitation and charged me for one day. To the hotel’s reply that I should have canceled: I was in an ambulance fighting for my life. I didn’t have time to get on booking.com and cancel. That’s fine, I’m just sharing what happened to me.

The adjoining room or rooms had people smoking pot and playing loud music day and night, which made the stay unpleasant. My own room was dark and dirty, with stained bedding and a very uncomfortable bed. I stayed two nights.

We chose the Slummit mainly because it was close to MD Anderson, in case my husband felt sick after his chemo appointment and we needed a short drive. But we didn’t feel safe in the area and wouldn’t stay there again for that reason. The room felt stuffy and dirty, and someone’s leftover food was still in the fridge.

The staff were friendly, professional, and ready to help whenever I needed something. My room was clean and comfortable, with a thoughtful setup that made it easy to relax after a long day. I had a wonderful stay and would happily come back and recommend it.

The man at the counter was mean and rude when I was going through a tough time. Don’t spend your money here. I’d book somewhere else, and they need new management.
