Fairfield Inn & Suites Houston Intercontinental Airport

Once we arrived, the hotel itself was nice. The room, breakfast, and coffee were all good. The main problem was reaching the hotel for the airport shuttle: several of us called the required number, but it rang and rang with no answer. At the hotel I saw someone behind the desk ignore a ringing phone. After checkout, I sat in the lobby for about an hour, and much of that time there was nobody at the desk.

Even with the hotel sold out, noise stayed pretty low. The bed, though, was too soft, and I could feel the springs or supports, so the mattress needs replacing. The room layout was handy, with a separate area for another TV and a pull-out couch bed, lots of light and seating, a good-sized desk for work, and little tables that could be moved in front of the couch. Having a small fridge and microwave was convenient, and they sell some food near the check-in desk. The location is great, just minutes from IAH, and check-in took under two minutes.

As a Bonvoy Platinum Elite member, I was upgraded to a room that had everything I needed. Breakfast is free in the lobby every day, and there's a pool and a 24-hour gym. The airport shuttle is free if you request it, and the morning pickups were on time. I'd stay here again.

Breakfast was better than I expected, with a good mix of grab-and-go items and fresh options like fried eggs and waffles you make yourself. Check-in was smooth, but checkout left a bad impression because the front desk representative wasn't polite or professional. The rooms felt dated and didn't have basic modern features. There was no ceiling light, just lamps by the bed, and the thick carpet throughout the hotel made it hard to move luggage around. I wouldn't stay here again unless I had no other choice.
