Hilton Garden Inn Houston/Bush Intercontinental Airport

This trip was supposed to be a birthday celebration, but the way we were treated ruined it. I’m 34 and have stayed in hotels since I was 18, and I’ve never dealt with this much hostility, poor service, and unprofessional behavior. While we were just sitting outside in the lounge area, police were called on us without explanation. It was humiliating and unwarranted. My partner was repeatedly questioned and watched whenever he went to the designated smoking area. Staff kept asking what room he was in, approached him multiple times, and made him feel unwelcome. When he tried to discuss it at the front desk, staff were rude and dismissive, continuing to question him instead of helping or clarifying. More than once, staff followed him outside and watched him while pretending to be occupied. We were also told we couldn’t use the pool because it was under maintenance, something never disclosed before or during booking. Then over $300 was charged to my card for an alleged smoking violation. That accusation is false: we only smoked in designated areas, and nobody from staff or housekeeping told us of any complaint or concern during our stay. If there really were complaints, we should have been told and given a chance to address them. There was a billing problem at the start too. Our stay at the Hilton Inn in Houston, Texas, began December 18, 2025. I had booked in advance and prepaid on December 9, 2025, but was charged again for the room at arrival, which caused unnecessary stress and took time to sort out. I don’t feel comfortable staying at any Hilton property again unless this is properly addressed. I’ll contact Hilton corporate and expect a prompt response about the duplicate charge, the smoking fee, and how we were treated.

The lobby looks nice, but the place seems to have had only bare-minimum renovations. I’d pay the extra 125 to stay somewhere else. I usually get up around 3 for work and went downstairs for bottled water, but a small Smartwater was $7. I drove to a gas station down the road and got a large bottle and Gatorade for under $8. The mini fridge in my room didn’t work.

The woman who checked me in was excellent, friendly, and chatty. I’ve stayed here many times over the years as a frequent Hilton guest and Diamond member, usually at HGI, but this property really needs money spent on it, especially the rooms. The AC units are noisy, the shower heads are bad, and the bed isn’t comfortable. They’ve also started charging for parking, which feels like a money grab. The bar service needs attention too. I’d replace the attendant or train her to serve properly and check in on guests now and then. It’s sad, because this used to be an okay place to stay before a flight home. The check-in, again, was excellent.

The room stayed hot all night, whatever temperature I set. The thermostat barely works because an energy-saving system keeps the AC from running long enough to cool things down. Add the nonstop airplanes overhead, which sound like a jet engine through the night, and it’s hard to sleep. There’s no free breakfast either, which I find unacceptable for a Hilton. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you can sleep through constant plane noise and don’t mind being uncomfortable all night.
