Hotel Saint Augustine

The staff were superb, especially Ana, Carly, John, and the rest of the team. My room was spotless, cozy, and beautifully decorated, and the food was incredible. Definitely try the cookie selections of the day, they’re a must. Room service was prompt, and the amenities and ambience were truly unmatched. I can’t wait to visit again!

Being able to walk to one of the country’s best art museums was a great bonus, and the value here is hard to beat. The rooms were comfortable, with thoughtful architecture and carefully put-together spaces throughout. Even the lighting, furniture, colors, and landscaping felt considered. The products were superb, the staff incredible, and the food at Perseid was as good as it gets. A stylish, quietly luxurious stay that lived up to my already high expectations.

Hotel Saint Augustine has a distinctive, calming look, with beautiful landscaping and a California-meets-Houston feel. The concept and design are clearly well considered, and it makes for a lovely getaway in the heart of Montrose. I’d have appreciated a short introduction at check-in explaining where things are, how the amenities work, and what makes the hotel different from a typical property. A few practical details got in the way. There weren’t accessible ice or water machines, so you have to call the front desk, and the minibar had no visible prices. The lounge service was the biggest letdown: the bartender made me feel dismissed. Service matters a lot in a place that puts so much emphasis on the experience. Visually, the hotel is impressive, and I liked the minimalist boutique style. There’s a strong idea behind it. With some improvements to service and the guest experience, it could become a real standout in Houston.

Jesse and Rick at the valet made the stay especially memorable. They were so sweet and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The hotel itself was beautiful, and the whole experience was amazing.
