Hotel Vesper, Houston, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Ramon behind the bar made our evenings, he was friendly, skilled, and mixed fantastic drinks. The service was incredible, and the hotel had a chic but welcoming feel. I loved the adorable rooms, which were cozy, stylish, and thoughtfully designed down to the details. Can’t wait to return. I’d recommend it for a lovely staycation.

We had a separate living room and kitchenette with a dining table, and there was plenty of space to spread out. The pictures and reviews had made us expect something nice, and we really wanted to like the hotel. But the through-wall AC units couldn’t keep the room cool. Maintenance came after we called, jiggled some wires, and left. We spent every night there sleeping in a warm, uncomfortable room.

The corner suites worked wonderfully for the bridal and groom’s preparations, especially the side of the building with morning light. It made for gorgeous photos. We held our small family wedding at a nearby church in River Oaks, using the hotel to get ready, take pre-ceremony photos, and stay overnight with our guests. Sabrina was so kind and helpful on the phone while I confirmed everyone’s room reservations. Ace was fantastic that morning as we checked in and got settled. He made us feel welcome and looked after. We’d absolutely recommend the hotel.

The bed was definitely comfortable, and that would be the reason I’d return. I first stayed here in January. The rooms had been renovated, but some older things remained: the AC was noisy, the shower leaked out through the door every time, and the water pressure was weak. The TV didn’t work either. The staff seemed busy running around and not as professional, maybe they were short staffed. During the two days I was there, nobody was working at the lobby cafe. The hotel’s entrance is tucked behind other hotels, so you have to drive into a hotel parking area to reach it. That was confusing.
