We wanted somewhere off the beaten path, and this was just right for peace and quiet. Our one-room cottage had its own deck and hot tub, and there was also a pool. We even took the Cliff Walk and saw whales playing offshore. Freshly laid eggs from their own coop were delivered to us, a very nice touch.

It takes some effort to reach Huelo Point, since it’s essentially at the start of the Road to Hana, but the place is awe-inspiring once you arrive. Rainforest, local fruit and flowering trees, and a beautiful cliffside lookout. The owner and property manager were both great, and you can tell they love the area. Such a cute cottage, and a real “Hawaiian” experience. We’ll come back eventually. Mahalo for a great stay! -Damon A

We loved using the “cliff walk” at sunrise and sunset. Just to be clear, it’s a walk to a cliff, not a trail along one, but the view is breathtaking. The location is tucked into the jungle near the cliffside, and it’s a great starting point for the Road to Hana, Upcountry, and quieter Maui. There are about four units sharing a pool. We stayed at Rainbow Lookout, and even with floor-to-ceiling windows in every direction, the landscaping and layout kept things feeling private. The bungalow was charming and well set up for two, with outdoor cooking gear on the backyard lanai, an open-air shower, and our own little hot tub. A hidden jungle oasis, and we absolutely loved our stay.

Our family of eight spent five nights at Lookout while we were in Haiku for another grandson’s wedding. We had plenty of room, with two master bedrooms, one on each level, and a bathroom on each level too. Our grandson had a private spot in the downstairs office, while our granddaughter shared the king-size bed in the lower living room. We ate and caught up around the big dining table each day. The pool and short walk to the cliff were lovely, and the ocean, sunrise, and lush garden views were spectacular. Short rains came each night, followed by cooling breezes. Breakfast supplies included fresh eggs from the property’s chickens, coffee, and delicious pineapple, and the welcome basket had snacks, wine, and other goodies. Thanks for the hospitality!
