Fairfield Inn & Suites Houston Humble

Being so close to the airport was convenient, and I could see they were renovating, so I’m trying to be fair. Still, there was hardly any parking and the hallways looked rough. The room was okay apart from broken fixtures and a broken mirror. I wish I’d read the reviews before booking, because I probably would have chosen somewhere else.

Both front desk staff we met were very nice, especially the tall guy who checked us in. The lobby looks great, but the rest of the hotel is rough, even with renovations underway. I can’t believe this is a Marriott brand. The road noise from the busy highway was loud all night, though the hotel itself wasn’t too noisy. Our room smelled musty, and the drapes and duvets had awful stains. There weren’t enough towels or washcloths for four people. The bathtub was rusted and badly needed caulk. One bed light didn’t work and was falling off its mount. The elevator felt shaky, so we avoided it after the first ride, and it was missing a light cover that someone had mentioned in a review four months earlier. I wouldn’t stay again. Management needs to put money into the rooms as part of the renovations.

We were only here overnight, and thankfully the room itself didn’t smell bad. The hall had a strange odor from the construction. There was a mini fridge, but it wasn’t plugged in, so our food and our little guy’s milk spoiled. He’d put everything in without realizing it wasn’t cold. When I opened the fridge it smelled bad and was warm. I wish they’d plugged it in before check-in. In Nov.2025, the reconstruction smell was still bad, like plastic toys, phthalate or something toxic. I think it might be the wallpaper or glue they’re using.

The building is in poor condition, and the elevator was terrifying. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling, and we found a roach crawling on one of us in the room. Breakfast was okay, but there wasn’t much of it. The employees were all amazing. The woman and man working there were kind, welcoming and a joy to be around.
