La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Houston Humble Atascocita

The biggest problem for us was how poorly maintained and unwelcoming the place felt. The air had a strong mold and cannabis smell from the moment we entered, which worried me with our two children. The first night was almost sleepless because the air conditioning wasn't working properly. I also saw what looked like the housekeeping manager training staff to wash floors with the same cloths guests use to bathe. Common area bins were overflowing and stayed that way for days. Breakfast was uncomfortable, too. I usually avoided it, but once I served myself dry cereal and accidentally dropped a few pieces. A staff member glared at me, so I instinctively got a broom and cleaned it up myself. I felt embarrassed and unwelcome instead of helped. We stayed here over the holidays, and this wasn't the family experience I expected. I tried several times to contact management and got no response. A staff member told me I'd receive a full refund, but it never came. I was charged for a service that wasn't provided, so I feel I have no choice but to contact local enforcement and file a consumer protection complaint.

The accessible room was amazing, and the hotel itself is beautiful. The staff were wonderful, and breakfast was great. I especially loved the coffee machine. Many thanks to the sweet, friendly woman who prepares the food. It was lovely.

The breakfast was good, and making a Texas-shaped waffle was a fun touch. Service was great, and the place was very clean even with remodeling underway. The location is handy for Walmart, Target, TJ Maxx, and Ross. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Our room was freshly painted and clean, with regular flooring instead of rugs. It was our first stay here, and we'll be back for sure.
