The staff made the stay especially easy. They were flexible and handled every request with a great customer service attitude. We also enjoyed the meals from the kitchen and unwinding by the pool. The location in VA wine country is excellent, and the historic feel comes with comfortable lodging. We came for a get together with old school friends, and I'd come back.

After driving three hours on a Friday afternoon, my wife and I arrived to find out the inn was full and the innkeeper couldn't find our reservation. We'd prepaid for a suite at The Inn at Vineyards Crossing almost three months earlier for a Memorial Day weekend getaway. The innkeeper offered little help and said she'd taken over a few months before, and that this had happened a few times. We were left scrambling, and although it was warm outside, you get the idea. It took more than a week and a reminder from me to get our money back. Extremely unprofessional from start to finish. I'd tell anyone booking here to be cautious.

The rooms were OK, though the carpet in our one of the nicer rooms was stained. For $294, I expected more attention to detail. We were the only guests, and the innkeepers left at 3:30 and 5:00. They both saw the leaves we'd tracked into the foyer in the bad weather, but there was no rug and the leaves stayed there for three days. The public rooms were cold during the late October rain, and the gas fireplace wasn't hooked up yet. The hot tub was closed, too. Breakfast was dictated to us, and it wasn't what the website showed. One day we got scrambled eggs with bacon, yogurt, and frozen fruit from Sam's Club. The next day it was over easy eggs, turkey bacon, and the same frozen fruit. When we ran out of toilet paper and Kleenex, we had to search the closets ourselves because nobody was around. The winery connected with the Inn made us feel like a bother when we visited. We were the only ones there, but the girl giving the tasting seemed eager to get us out of the way. The picnic lunch was just a wedge of cheese, a chunk of salami, and Ritz crackers. Such a disappointment. This could be a really nice place, but we won't be back.

Christina, the innkeeper, was amazing, and both the property and host exceeded our expectations throughout. The Inn itself is beautiful. We also had excellent wines at P&C Winery, where Domenic was knowledgeable and personable. For places to eat or drink, Griffin Inn is the local spot, while Public House offers a more upscale experience. We'd highly recommend it.

Our mini honeymoon was effectively ruined when the cabin was closed on our wedding day and nobody had told us. We'd sent someone over to check us in, only to find we had no place to stay. By then, everything within our budget was booked, and we couldn't find another place in time.
