My Place Hotel - Huntersville, NC

Traveling with dogs worked well here, and the price was good. Pet-owner rooms are on the first and second floors, so it’s easy to get in and out with the dogs. The hotel is newly built, clean, and the rooms are in good shape for a short stay. It was well worth a night’s rest. The major problem was room 207. It had a strong, distinctive cat spray odor. I’m very allergic to cats, and within 2-3 hours my eyes and asthma started acting up. I didn’t want to complain, so I put up with it, took Benadryl, used my puffer, and put cold compresses on my swollen eyes.

We stayed at this MY PLACE from JULY 1 to NOV. 10 while waiting for the sale of our property in NY and the closing and purchase of a home in NC. It worked well for a few months of extended-stay lodging. Meet Patel, the manager, was generous and accommodating with rates and other requests. The concierge staff, Sindhu, Ashley, Jo Jo, and Carmen, were friendly, helpful, and courteous. The maids and other cleaning staff did an excellent, thorough job whenever they refreshed our room. For either personal or business travel, I’d recommend the MY PLACE HOTEL in Huntersville. It has ample parking, welcomes pets, and is near banks, supermarkets, churches, and various restaurants and eateries.

I needed a room while traveling and stopped here around 9 p.m. without a reservation. I’d never heard of the hotel, but it was close to an interstate exit. The rate was about $100 for the night, which seemed reasonable. It wasn’t awful, but I probably wouldn’t stay again. There’s no covered drop-off, so I felt oddly exposed parking in the middle of the road to go inside. In the lobby, I waited several minutes for someone to come to the desk. The room looked okay at first, and the bathroom appeared clean with shampoo and conditioner provided. The room had a fridge, sink, and small cooktop, but don’t plan on cooking unless you brought dishes and cookware, since none are provided. There was a connecting door to the next room, and I could hear the guests moving around all night. I propped a chair against the door, just because. A small table and two chairs were there, but the table was broken and looked ready to fall over. The beds were pretty comfortable, but my duvet cover had a couple of questionable stains, and the other bed’s sheets looked like they had cigarette burns. Breakfast wasn’t included. They sold packaged sandwiches and a drink for either $6 or $7.99 from a cooler by the desk. I passed, and the clerk laughed, saying they understood, and suggested getting a hot breakfast sandwich at a drive-through instead.

It was a good value, with a clean, modern room that had everything we needed. This isn’t a pool or frills kind of place, but they do have free coffee, and it’s good. They let us check in an hour early without any trouble. The first room smelled like wet laundry or something, so we asked to switch. They moved us with no hassle, and the new room was fantastic.
