Starlight Inn Huntington Beach

I’ve never been screamed at as a customer before. When we arrived, the room was disgusting and clearly hadn’t been cleaned: dirty sheets, used towels on the floor, and trash still in the bins. The woman at the front desk was rude and dismissive, then begrudgingly offered a free night, which we appreciated at the time. When we returned for the second night, she had moved all our belongings out and locked us out. Our things were sitting in the office. She said we were supposed to check out, even though she had promised us the extra night, then yelled at me and accused us of not clearing the room. We were effectively kicked out without warning or apology, and we never received the promised refund. This was the most chaotic and unprofessional hotel experience I’ve had. I can’t believe this place is still running. Absolutely awful.

There were bugs in the bed, which was disgusting and made me feel completely unsafe. The room was also smaller and more outdated than the online photos, and it wasn’t well maintained. At check-in the woman had a bad attitude and wasn’t helpful. When I raised my concerns, a man on staff yelled at me, which was completely unacceptable. They kept my deposit and never returned it. I contacted them several times and was ignored, so it feels like a scam. It was a terrible waste of money, and I would never come back. Be careful if you’re considering this place.

It’s a run of the mill motel, but it’s super clean and clearly has been modernized. The room has a couple of issues: there’s no bath option for little ones, only a shower, and the remote is missing its battery cover.

The beach is the only nice thing I can say about this place. Our first room’s TV didn’t work, and while the woman was trying to fix it, my daughter spotted a bug on the pillow. The woman just knocked it onto the floor. Gross rooms. Save yourself the trouble and go up the road.
