Surf City Inn - Near Seal Beach Pier

We only stayed two nights. The place was noisy at times, and the floors apparently weren’t cleaned regularly, as other comments have mentioned. In room 326, the worst issue for me was a nail head sticking out of the floor right where the entry hall changes into the bedroom area. You can see it sticking out in the photo. The bed was a little firm, but still soft enough for me to sleep on my side. The shower nozzle coming from the ceiling was unusual, though not a deal-breaker. It’s close to the beach, but there’s no elevator, and rooms are on the second and third floors. Be ready for a lot of stairs if you’re on the third.

We had a wonderful stay with the teenage kids, who enjoyed the area, which can be hard to manage. The hotel is small and cute. The stairs gave us a bit of exercise, but it was well worth it. We’ll stay again.

We couldn’t hear anything clearly because the walls were so thin, from outside noise to inside noise. The doors were all kept open, so it was cold. The staff were rude and none of them spoke English. They argued with us for no reason and tried to find an excuse to keep our security deposit. There weren’t any food options around. I wouldn’t recommend staying here at all.

It’s a no-frills motel on PCH, but the room was clean and comfortable. We had a third-floor corner room with a nice view of the Marina and wetlands. The room came with a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, and there’s an ice machine downstairs. Staff were pleasant and accommodating. Sunset Beach, restaurants, Starbucks, and Mothers grocery store are all easy to get to. We’ll definitely be back.
