Caledonia Farm 1812

Phil made the weekend especially enjoyable. He knows the area's history and keeps up with what's going on in this rural county, and the breakfasts were delicious with lots of attention to detail. The house is steeped in history, so staying there feels like stepping back in time. We had a lovely weekend in August and hope to return.

Caledonia's is a peaceful, beautiful historic place. My husband and I went for our wedding anniversary, and Phil's hospitality was wonderful. He knows what's happening around the area and was an amazing host. We couldn't have asked for more.

The views are beautiful, but the rest of the stay really wasn't for me. I have traveled extensively and worked in hospitality, both in the US and internationally, since 1973. I expected basic comfort and genuine hospitality, not world-class luxury. The preservation work is commendable, but I still expect a comfortable bed and a breakfast table without tarnished, unusable jars. My friend and I also shouldn't have been corrected about how we wanted to eat. It felt like the focus was on the host rather than the guests, and the accommodations fell short of basic comfort.

The location was amazing, and our host went out of his way to help us have a good trip. He asked about our plans so he could offer ideas and make suggestions. He knows the area well, and his favorite restaurant was very good. Let him book you a dinner reservation. We'd love to return, and next time we'll book with him directly instead of using a third-party site.
