Motel 6 Huntsville, AL – University Dr.

We never got to check in, so I can't give feedback about the stay. They wanted us to wait until 3 p.m. even though we'd arrived at 11:30 a.m. I didn't realize they'd let us check in that early, but the wait was ridiculous.

The studio was clean and nice, and the bed was really comfortable. I liked having a full fridge, sink, and countertop, plus a table and chairs for eating. The toaster came in handy too. I'll definitely book here again.

The location isn't good, but the newly remodeled rooms are great. I apparently ended up on the do-not-rent list without being told or given any idea why.

The room looked nothing like the photos online, and for $100 a night the bathroom and floors should at least have been clean. The floors were so filthy that my socks were black within an hour. There was mold around the tub grout, and roaches in the bathroom. One got into my bag and came home with us, though thankfully it died on the way. I still feel dirty. Check-in itself went smoothly. I'd called ahead to make sure the room was available and pet-friendly. When I called the desk about a roll-away, they said there weren't any on the property. I asked for extra blankets instead, but the clerk said she'd need the owners' permission to give out anything extra, as though we'd take them with us. My mom showered, but the air conditioner, fan, or heater seemed preset to 73, so our choice was to freeze or have no circulating air. The hotel advertises that it's pet-friendly, but there was nowhere to walk our dog. I accidentally left a very sentimental stuffed animal when we checked out. The owner or manager told me it would have been thrown away as trash when I called. They hadn't tried to contact me, even though I would have driven the 3.6 miles from the hospital to get it. Never again.
