The room was organized and clean, which I appreciated, but the rest of the stay left a lot to be desired. A roach was perched above the microwave staring at me, and it never moved. The bedding was the most uncomfortable I’ve had at any hotel: I spent three nights trying to sleep on two flat pillows. When I asked the front desk for more, the receptionist said none were available. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel or come back to this location.
The staff across all three shifts and the location are what make this a good place to stay. I commend upper management for hiring the right people, and I’d recommend the hotel and plan to return to see whether management listens to guests. My concerns are about room 305 and a few policies. The bed dips on the left as if the springs are bad. I reported it to the front desk, and the young woman wrote it up, but nothing changed during my stay. Water pressure was poor, and there were some roaches, though not an infestation. I know this is an extended stay hotel, but having to wait 14 days to change towels seems unreasonable. Changing that to every 5 days would be great. Guests also have to take their own trash to the dumpster. I think that should stop, and trash left outside the room by 7am should be collected.
The room layout worked well as a temporary workspace, and I appreciated being able to view a room before checking in. My desk area could have been bigger, but I bring my own portable desk, so I managed. The staff were friendly and helpful, too. The first room I saw smelled strongly of smoke; the second was acceptable, though I’d carefully inspect the bed before agreeing to a room. I stayed for two weeks, booking one week at a time, and no housekeeping was offered at any point. I washed my own sheets and towels. Even checking out and back in on the same day didn’t prompt anyone to notice or service the room. Trash was never taken out, and there were roaches. Given that rooms apparently aren’t cleaned unless a guest fully checks out and leaves, that wasn’t surprising. The hotel feels worn and needs major updates and better management. The carpets were dirty and heavily stained, and most days the hallways clearly hadn’t been vacuumed. The sofa looked like it had been there since the hotel opened, and the mattress in Room 305 was lumpy and overdue for replacement. Someone else had mentioned that room’s mattress too, so it seems management isn’t going to replace it. The single elevator was out of service for three days, a major problem, and a staff member said that happens frequently. Guests have to bring their own plates and cookware or buy them at the hotel. I’ve stayed at many extended-stay places, and none made me buy basic kitchen items to cook. As of January 1, the hotel also started charging $1.00 per roll of toilet paper. I’ve never seen that before, and it suggests the hotel may be under financial strain. It’s very affordable for an area like Washington, DC, but the condition and overall experience fell well short of what I expected. Next time I’d choose another extended-stay option nearby, even if it costs a little more.
Convenient, clean, and comfortable. Sareena and Jon were amazing, welcoming, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The rooms are spacious and have nearly all the amenities you’ll need. Thanks for having us, we look forward to coming back. Keep up the great work at Woodspring Suites Arena.
There’s a constant sewage smell on the first floor, and I found roaches in the rooms. The place is poorly maintained and dirty. I’ve also heard the allegation that two people died here and their rooms were cleaned and rented again instead of being properly shut down. On top of that, customers have been charged or had money taken without a proper explanation. The assistant supervisor regularly comes to work drunk and inebriated, making the environment feel unsafe and unprofessional. My stay at WoodSpring Suites was terrible, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
