Quality Inn Mt. Vernon

The bed was only average, and the Wi-Fi crawled at about 1-2 Mbps, so even simple apps were hard to use. The front desk ladies weren't welcoming and came across as rude. In the room, the carpet was dirty and worn, and there was a bad smell with no room freshener. The property feels old and poorly cared for. I also don't understand the many 5-star Google reviews when people keep reporting these same problems, sometimes alongside a 5/5 rating. My stay didn't match that score.

The breakfast was better than expected, and the room was clean, but that was about it. Noise from the adjacent room made the building seem hollow, so this may only be fine if nobody is staying next door. I accidentally left a coat in the cupboard at checkout and noticed only after getting home. I called, but they couldn't find it. I reported it to IHG too, and the General Manager gave me the same response. A pretty unfortunate state of affairs.

The stale, poorly ventilated smell was the worst part of the stay. Marijuana odor had settled into the walls and carpets along with cigarette smoke, and it was almost impossible to sleep comfortably. The rooms are dated too. One of the worst places I've stayed, unfortunately.

The rooms weren't properly cleaned or serviced, with basic housekeeping missed, and that made the stay uncomfortable. Staff were inattentive and unhelpful, with practically no customer service or interest in fixing problems. The food was poor too, not fresh and lacking basic taste and presentation. This fell below even the minimum I'd expect from a hotel, and I wouldn't recommend it.
