I’m still here, and already so upset about having to stay that I had to write this. After a nine-hour drive, I booked the cheapest place online without reading reviews. Huge mistake. I think they’re more used to long-term residents than travelers. There was blood on the picture frames and walls, and when I tried to shut the blinds, they fell off. I refused the first room because it looked like someone in muddy boots had walked through it. Was it even cleaned? The room wasn’t kept at a comfortable temperature. If it’s 100 degrees outside, expect to wait an hour before it’s bearable. They offered a refund, but it would have gone through the booking site, which doesn’t refund a same-day booking, so I was stuck. I had to borrow a fly swatter from the office and spent half an hour killing flies before I could stand being in the room. Everything’s dirty and stained. The towels smelled awful, the bedding wasn’t much better, and the room itself smelled moldy. I’m kicking myself for not turning around and taking the loss. I’m so worried about bedbugs I’ll have to use my own sheets and bag them for the trip home. I set off alone on an adventurous road trip, but didn’t expect to be scared for my life without my German shepherd. The TV wasn’t even plugged in, and there’s no trash can. I’d have been better off sleeping in my car.

Room 212 felt like a jail cell. The shower was so moldy I wouldn’t use it, and I didn’t want to look at the mattress or pillows. Bring your own sheets. I’ve stayed in some dumps while snowmobiling, and this was the most disgusting place of all. The website says $49, but they charged $90 when we arrived. Don’t waste your money here. Even the dumpster out back might be a better option.

The beds were unbelievably comfortable. I’ve stayed in “Higher quality” hotels and still woken up sore and unrested, but I keep telling my family about how good these beds were. The place is simple, and it met my needs. Staff were kind and accommodating, too. It sounds like many guests’ problems came from poor management, but the new management and current staff have been working hard on repairs, responding to concerns, and going above and beyond to keep stays positive. If I’m back this way, I WILL stay here again.

The sheets seemed clean, though I learned the hard way not to look under them. The mattress was badly stained, the blankets had holes and, in some cases, cigarette burns. Mold was on the shower curtain and in every corner of the shower. The place is old, which I could accept, but nothing’s been updated, and it wasn’t clean. There’s more, but you get the idea. Hotels.com listed it for $51, but I’d pay ten dollars more for somewhere that matches its pictures. I don’t know where those room photos on Hotels.com came from, but they weren’t from here. And whatever the “light breakfast” is supposed to be, there wasn’t even coffee. Caveat emptor.

I booked this place because it was cheap and allowed pets, but I never checked in. As we drove past, I saw about 10 people milling around who looked like crackheads, and one propositioned my husband from a corner right beside the hotel. No thanks. I like being able to sleep at night. Very glad we kept driving.
