The hosts and innkeeper were sweet and offered great ideas for things to see, including recommendations for area restaurants and activities. I stayed in the Vanderbilt room, a fitting name given its central location for my sightseeing, including the Vanderbilt. The Journey Inn Bed and Breakfast is directly across from the Vanderbilt house, or mansion as most of us would call it. Breakfast was delicious, the bed comfortable, and the water hot with strong pressure. Toiletries and a blowdryer were included, which meant less to pack.

Valerie was a fantastic hostess and an amazing cook. Our Vanderbilt Suite had plenty of room and a private en suite bath. Journey Inn is across the road from the Vanderbilt mansion, yet tucked away quietly, and well placed in the Hudson Valley between Rhinebeck and the CIA. We had a great stay and highly recommend it.

The suite was clean and spacious, and the hosts were friendly and accommodating. They thoughtfully provided essentials, from toiletries to drinks. Still, it fell short of feeling special. The furnishings were dated, and there were surprisingly few surfaces for personal items despite the room’s size. It also wasn’t warm, though they offered us a space heater. The location was convenient but lacked charm. Breakfast was just okay and didn’t match what the website’s “sample menus” led us to expect.

Journey Inn b&b is right beside the Vanderbilt mansion, and the CIA is about a 10-minute drive away for a great culinary experience in town. Our friendly hosts served a lovely breakfast with coffee each morning. We loved staying here and would happily return next time we drive to Upstate NY.

We stayed in the charming Tuscany Room and enjoyed chatting with Valerie and the other guests. The shower was small, and there was no TV, which was actually a nice change. Valerie was a wonderful host and made a delicious breakfast: guerre cheese pie, berry compote with fage yogurt, and a muffin. The Journey Inn is set back from the road, directly across from the Vanderbilt Estate and just 4 miles from the FDR Museum, which was awesome. This was our first visit, but it won’t be our last.
