Steamboat Inn

The forest setting above the river was gorgeous, and we loved falling asleep with the windows open to the sound of the river all night. We rented the dog-friendly Henley Run house for 3 nights. It’s spacious, but the fixtures are dated, with tiny toilets and old furniture. The shower had great water pressure. There’s no TV or internet service, which made for good unplugged time. Meals at the main Inn were outstanding, and the service and helpful, friendly people were great. Well worth a try.

We had a great time. The rooms are comfortable but modest, and the scenery by the river is lovely. We enjoyed the food too. There’s no Wi-Fi or signal, so it’s tough to plan outings from there. You’ll need to sort out online activities beforehand or go somewhere with reception. Crater Lake is about an hour’s drive, and we managed the trip fine.

The sound of the river and the views made this a lovely place to stay, and we’ll be back. We hadn’t realized our room had no AC, but the cool nights and a box fan kept us comfortable. I highly recommend the Steelhead for dinner. I had it twice, and my wife loved the chef’s special.

Everyone we met at Steamboat Inn was friendly, helpful, and a pleasure to deal with, and dinner at the on-site restaurant was spectacular. My wife and I spent two wonderful nights in The Falls cabin for our 30th anniversary. The cabin was comfortable and beautifully done, though the private deck and its view really stole the show. Photos and words don’t capture it. For quiet, beauty, and luxury, I’d give it 10/10 and recommend it.
