The Grand Idyllwild Lodge

I’ve been staying here since it first opened, and I still think it offers the best accommodations in Idyllwild. The rooms are spacious, well appointed, and the property is well maintained. With the new owners, some amenities have been cut, including lobby coffee and the more expansive weekday continental breakfast. Even so, the room rate and distinctive accommodations still make it good value. Highly recommend.

Beautiful views, comfortable rooms, and so much to enjoy: happy hour and breakfast were complimentary, and there was a hot jacuzzi, mini golf, sauna, and gym. The staff were warm and welcoming, which made for a great stay. I honestly don’t know why this place gets bad reviews. The lodge was amazing. 10/10 would recommend! :)

We’ve stayed at many places in Idyllwild over the years and none had met our expectations until now. The Grand Idyllwild Lodge finally felt like the peaceful mountain retreat we wanted. From booking onward, the staff were kind and attentive. Daniel was always ready to help, including with our luggage. When I mentioned I was interested in the putting green, they even cleared the snow before we arrived so we could use it. The grounds are surrounded by trees and lovely birds. We spotted several kinds, including an eagle we’d never seen before. The Dream Suite was stylish and comfortable, and its ADA accessibility was necessary for my partner. The room was spacious and clean, with robes and luxurious lotions, soap, and shampoo. The bed really was a dream, and I slept like a baby. Other cabins have let in too much light, so Daniel provided blackout curtains. We relaxed in the jacuzzi, and Emily gave us a wonderful massage onsite. She was friendly and shared lots of good places to eat in town. The sauna was soothing too. Breakfast was much more than continental, with large, good-quality bagels from a local restaurant, delicious waffles, and higher-end condiments. We also appreciated that it’s adults only and allows only service animals. I’m allergic to dogs, so that matters to me, and the policy is clearly stated on the website. It’s needed for some guests’ comfort and enjoyment, so complaints about it don’t seem fair. I could go on about how great the place is, but try it for yourselves. Five stars, and thanks to Daniel and Emily for a much-needed, lovely stay!

We went up for Thanksgiving weekend, and Idyllwild was wonderful. The lodge felt especially homey with its holiday decorations. On Saturday night they had local performers singing, plus wine and snacks so guests could mingle. We really appreciated that. Daniel and Sean run the lodge and are amazing, personable, hardworking, and clearly care about both the place and the guests. They’re always available. The included breakfast is good quality, everything is clean, and the views and porches are lovely. There’s a massage room downstairs, a gym, and an outdoor jacuzzi. The lobby is pretty and comfortable, with a gorgeous fireplace and a peaceful place to sit and relax. The rooms are huge and beautifully decorated, the bathrooms are very clean, and the beds are comfortable. The managers are there if you need anything. It’s centrally located but away from the bustle, and both the rooms and lodge are quiet. We love this lodge, it’s the nicest place to stay on the mountain and reasonably priced for what you get. Can’t wait to return!
