I found the Salt Hotel by chance while looking for a quiet work trip with my dog, and liked it so much I extended my stay. The marina setting is picturesque, and the place feels like an oasis with a surf hostel vibe. My room was small, cute, comfortable, and had everything I needed for four nights. I also liked being able to control the temperature when the nights got colder. During my winter visit the office staff were remote for half the stay, but they were very friendly and easy to reach by text. I booked a sauna session, spent evenings with my dog in the beautifully lit courtyard garden, and walked the greenway along the marina, enjoying Ilwaco's calm. The pub staff were friendly, and the food was really good. I'll tell friends and will be back.

The harbor view was lovely, and the room had a microwave, small fridge, and coffee maker. We enjoyed a late night snack at the little pub on site, though it closes at 8 pm. The burger and fries and my friend's tuna melt were both really tasty and filling. We noticed the sauna, but didn't visit because it requires a reservation seven days in advance. The place may seem a little out of the way, but our overnight stay was lovely and I'd recommend it if you're in the area.

The beds and bedding were comfortable, and the showers were hot, but we had a terrible night's sleep in room 18. The large window facing the water was missing its entire screen, which became a much bigger problem than we expected. The room was stuffy and had a strong, unpleasant smell, so our only way to get air was to open that window and risk insects or birds coming in. The other window faced the entryway, where a very bright light stayed on all night. Getting air through the room meant opening the curtains on that side too, exposing us to that light. Without the curtains open, wind from the unscreened window just pushed them against the screen and stopped the airflow. The wind also knocked things off the table in front of the window. At one point my daughter found a medium-sized bug on my dog, and he was bitten several times, including one fairly large bite on his shoulder. If you need ventilation to sleep, I'd bring a fan. The bathroom was badly designed with nowhere to put things, and if you weigh more than about 250 pounds, the shower would be hard to use unless you're in an ADA room. The mini fridge also leaked puddles onto the floor. We love staying in the area, but if we return and see a missing screen, we'll say something at check-in and ask for a room without one missing. As for the SALT pub, I don't recommend the food. The steamer clams were the worst I've had, with broth so sugary we wondered if the cook had used sugar instead of other seasonings. It tasted like juice and was gross. The fish and chips weren't a good choice either. They didn't say what they'd charge, and we got two tiny pieces of cod that were mostly batter and about two pounds of fries. I also wouldn't recommend the salmon dip, served with what was basically toast, so it was cold salmon spread on toast. I've had better food in the city, and I'll be posting a review of a much better place we visited in Long Beach. I wish I could recommend the SALT pub because it's a great place, but the food wasn't good.

Our pet sitter canceled at the last minute, so my partner and I brought our dog and hoped the hotel could take us. They accommodated us without any trouble. We had a great one-night stay in a clean, updated room. There's a cute pub in the hotel with a great marina view, and everything is very close. We'll definitely come back.

A lovely little hotel right on the Ilwaco docks. The rooms were exceptionally clean and well stocked, and I especially liked the items provided for guests traveling with dogs. The beds were very comfortable, and the service felt welcoming and easy. aND The Pub had tasty food and made great cocktails. Thank you Salt Hotel, we'll be back.
