Days Inn Independence

The room was good, though I had to ask for a light bulb and extra towels. Staff were really helpful, and Anna(manager) was especially helpful. Check-in and check-out were both pretty quick. I stayed here with my family last month. For what we paid, it wasn’t bad, though there’s room to improve. It looked like they were changing the beds, and they could use more good help and better cleaning service.

I woke up one night and saw three bed bugs moving around me. After two nights here, my leg was covered in bites. The place is infested with bed bugs and fleas, even if you think that sounds hard to believe. When one of my coworkers took a bed bug to the desk, the staff acted completely unconcerned. I’ve traveled all over the world, and this is near the top of my list of worst stays. Read the other review too, it’s spot on. It may be cheap, but spend the extra money and stay at a real hotel. Seriously, stay away.

The only good thing I can say is that the receptionist was very kind. The room carpet was so dirty my son and I slept with our shoes on, no joke. The hallway to the room smelled like a dead body, and the whole place was horrible and nasty. I wouldn’t recommend it for a dog. My dog house is nicer. The website photos must be 20 years old. They clearly haven’t been updated. This place is so deceitful and deplorable.

We chose to eat at the really good restaurant right next to the hotel. The rooms were clean, room service was always happy to help, and the room sizes were pretty generous for such a cheap place. It’s no fancy hotel, but thankfully it wasn’t bug infested either. The hallway had a weird smell, and the breakfast bar was pretty sparse, mostly cereal, a waffle maker that was usually empty, and a few other small things. I’d mainly recommend it if money’s tight and you still want a clean room.
