Park Place at City Centre

I'm usually someone who reads reviews without writing one, but after seeing the negative comments along with the good ones, I want to give this place a fair account. We stayed for two days, and I can't think of a complaint. I'll plan to stay here next year when we're back in Indy. The room was more like a little apartment. It had two bedrooms, a good-sized living room with a couch and two chairs, and a full kitchen with a full-size fridge, stove and oven, plus all the plates, bowls, glasses, and silverware we needed. The only thing missing was a dining table. Some units in the building are rented apartments, and every tenant we met was great and happy to share tips on where to go and how to get around. The front desk women I spoke with were helpful, answered my questions, and were great when I needed assistance. We had hot water right away and never heard anyone else. The elevator worked fine and got us between floors without any trouble. I also didn't find the room too bright; people bothered by that can close the blinds. The complaints I'd read about the staff, hot water, noise, elevator, and brightness didn't match what we experienced. The value is great, and the location is close to everything.

I only stayed one night for a downtown convention. The kitchen was handy, with silverware, basic utensils, and ceramic bowls, and the staff were kind. Outside lights came through the windows, but the blinds did a good job blocking them. The room still got hot fast because the AC didn’t seem to reach it, and I spent the night facing a bare wall with no pictures. The pool was out of order, and the neighborhood didn’t feel safe. Worst of all was the awful, constant weed smell. It was in our room and the vents, and even on the floor above and in the stairwell. I might stay again, but that smell was a major concern.

The rooms are a bit dated and show their age, but we weren’t expecting the Ritz. We had a clean, comfortable two-bedroom setup with double beds, plus a full living room and kitchen stocked with plates, utensils, and pans. The front desk lady was nice, and the elevators worked fine. We really liked our stay, so don’t let the negative reviews put you off.

The rooms were reported to me as clean, and the location near downtown suited what we needed for guests coming in from out of town. The price was really good, too. The reception experience, though, was below average. There was no coffee service in the lobby or nearby, and the woman working there seemed careless and made no effort to help with an early check-in. I guess you get what you pay for.
