Drury Inn & Suites Indianapolis Northeast

We’re thinking of bringing the kids back for a weekend to swim and hang out at the hotel. It’s a beautiful, clean, comfortable place, close to the hospital, with a great breakfast buffet and happy hour from 6-8.

The free breakfast and happy hour are hard to beat for the price, so this is our first choice when we travel. The Carmel location is excellent. I’ve always appreciated how clean Drury rooms are, and I like having the two-room suite where I can sit with my coffee when I get up early.

Breakfast had a lot to choose from: made-to-order waffles, scrambled and western-style eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, oatmeal with toppings, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, breads, bagels, fruit, juices, and coffee. The complimentary Kickback buffet ran from 5:30-7:00 pm, with a good range of hot dishes and snacks; the menu changes every few days. I stayed on a weeknight at the Drury Inn on Shadeland Ave in Indianapolis. Both the room and bathroom were spotless and comfortable. My only small gripe was the low quality of the Kleenex.

The staff were friendly and helpful, which was the one bright spot. We’re Drury members and usually stay every other weekend at the Drury Inn at 96th/meridian because of family circumstances. That one was booked this weekend, presumably for Valentine’s Day, so we came here instead. We paid $100 more than we usually do at the 96th St location and had a terrible stay. Our room looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned. The couch was torn, every surface had stains, and the cologne smell was so strong it gave me a bad headache. There was no shampoo, conditioner, or body wash until a maintenance worker came to refill the dispensers. We couldn’t switch rooms because of the type we needed. The pool and hot tub were smaller than at the other location. Someone left young children there unattended, and their shrieking made it miserable, so we had to leave. The Kickback area was such a madhouse that we didn’t try to eat there, and the elevator wait was unbelievable.
