Tru By Hilton Indianapolis Downtown, IN

We were in town for a work event at Union campus this week, and the stay was easy thanks to the staff. They were welcoming and especially hospitable throughout, particularly Jun at the front desk. He exceeded what I expect from a chain hotel, and they should develop him into a manager. The two men running breakfast in the morning were friendly and accommodating too.

The guest reps were wonderful, and they moved us to another room when ours was sitting at 86° and we couldn't cool it down. The replacement was farther from the elevator, though. The room itself was basic, clean, and comfortable, with no coffee maker. We got a couple of vouchers for snacks and drinks downstairs and used one. We were there for Monday night football, and the walk to the Verizon entrance at Lucas Stadium was only about three minutes. Parking was chaotic even in the garage, which cost $30. Once we arrived, leaving didn't feel like an option. I'm disabled, so walking out for food wasn't possible, and driving out and back sounded impossible too. Checkout wasn't convenient for a disabled guest either. I hadn't expected one night with parking and $4.95 streaming internet to total $384.95 when the room lists for $142. That's a lot for the stay we had. I also left my cold pack for my back behind. Apparently it went down the laundry chute instead of to lost and found, and I was told I'd need to wait about four days and call again. They credited us $76 for the discarded item and the room inconvenience, which I appreciate.

Jun made me feel welcome and was so helpful during my stay. The first-shift guy was nice and welcoming too. The hotel and lobby were clean, and the room was really nice and tidy. This was my second stay at Tru, and I love coming here. Thanks for making it feel like home.

I had a great city view at night from my room, and the big-screen TV was a nice touch. The room was super clean, and there were plenty of toiletries. Breakfast was a medium-sized buffet, but it had what I needed for a good meal. I also appreciated that my friend could park in the garage free for two nights. I stayed five nights and would come back if I'm in central Indianapolis again. It's within walking distance of some pubs and restaurants, with one just around the corner, though the nearest bus stop is far away. The hotel is close to Lucas stadium, but luckily there wasn't a match during my visit, so things stayed quiet.
