Hotel Pommier Indianola

Hotel Pommier is just around the corner from our family in Indianola, so it’s a convenient spot for us when we visit. It’s right on the main highway, with easy access and a large parking lot. We enjoyed the breakfast, coffee, and clean rooms, and the staff were very friendly, like you’d expect in a “small” town in Iowa. This was our second stay, and we’ll come back for the next family event.

The owners have put thoughtful little touches around the place, like funny sayings and meme references tucked away here and there. The staff were welcoming, and even though the bathroom was a bit small, it didn’t bother us. We picked one of the cheapest options and didn’t expect much, but the clean rooms felt surprisingly new and well kept. It was a pleasant stay and great value. We’d come back.

We were tired and eventually got a good night’s sleep, thanks to the staffer who answered the phone after hours and quickly moved us to another room. In the first room, the sheets looked unclean, which is a big problem since cleanliness should be job number one. We’d stopped during a cross-country drive and wanted to support an independent inn. Our dog was welcome, there was lots of soft green grass outside, and the basic facilities were all we needed.

They’re wonderful hosts, with a lot of thought and organization put into every part of the stay. The large rooms are clean and comfortable, and there’s a game room with billiards and ping pong. One of the best breakfasts, too. They welcome pets and offer treats and poop bags at check-in. Filtered water, hot tea, and coffee are available around the clock.
